Abstract: Cellular base stations (BSs) are equipped with backup batteries to obtain the uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and maintain the power supply reliability. While maintaining the reliability, the backup batteries of 5G BSs have some spare capacity over time due to the traffic-sensitive characteristic of 5G BS electricity load.
Battery used in these systems has been customised to handle problems such as the partial state of charge problems and quick charge acceptance parameter associated with the application. Battery performance has been optimized through field testing and data compilation of various types of site conditions observed in base station backup operation.
The traditional configuration method of a base station battery comprehensively considers the importance of the 5G base station, reliability of mains, geographical location, long-term development, battery life, and other factors .
Meanwhile, communication base stations often configure battery energy storage as a backup power source to maintain the normal operation of communication equipment [3, 4]. Given the rapid proliferation of 5G base stations in recent years, the significance of communication energy storage has grown exponentially [5, 6].
