Lead acid batteries must be disposed according to the country law. It is strongly recommended to send batteries for recycling to a lead smelter. Please refer to the local Standards for any further information, these batteries need to be collected separately for wast disposal.
Because they contain lead and sulfuric acid, lead-acid battery disposal is fully regulated as a hazardous waste management activity, but when intact lead-acid batteries are managed for recycling, the handling requirements are relaxed.

The Tipton plant aims to increase Recyclus' lead-acid battery recycling production capacity from an estimated 16,000 tonnes in the first full year of production, to circa 80,000 tonnes by 2027.
